Forecast Discussion:

A front will move north and south/back and forth across northern New England over the next three days, providing occasional rain and some thunderstorms, as well as a split (and challenging temperature forecast). Thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning, downpours,  hail, and occasionally gusty winds.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for southern VT Tuesday until 9pm, so expect some quick to pop tstorms, capable of hail and isolated damaging wind gusts. A push of warmth will come in Wednesday with temperatures reaching into the 80s, so more pop up showers/storms expected. Then a cold front will swing through Thursday and this will likely cause more rain and thunderstorms. Keep an eye on Thursday for any stronger thunderstorms that could develop. The Memorial Day weekend will be cooler and drier, very pleasant.

Forecast:

Tuesday Night: Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, some strong in southern VT during the evening. Mild and muggy, lows 55-62. South wind 8-15 mph.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with sct'd showers and thunderstorms. Warmer and muggy. Highs 75-82. South wind 10-20 mph.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with sct'd showers and thunderstorms. Some could be strong in southern VT. Highs 69-77, NW to SE.

Friday: Cloudy, then becoming sunnier. Cooler and breezy. Lows around 55. Highs around 65.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Lows near 45. Highs 60-65.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Lows near 45. Highs near 65.

It was a very busy weekend for people in the nation's Midwest section as Saturday and Sunday combined produced more than 500 severe storm reports. Perhaps you have seen the videos by now, but if you haven't
