VTrans to Close I-89 South Bound Passing Lane for Ledge Removal Next Week

MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The Vermont Agency of Transportation is closing the passing lane near the Jonesville Ledges  (between mile marker 73.5 and 74.5) on I-89S next week to remove a loose ledge.
 
A press release says recent rock fall revealed that there is more loose material that could prove dangerous to the public.
 
A work crew will scale the ledges and a catch net will be installed to catch any falling rocks. A temporary concrete barriers will be installed and the speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH starting Monday.
 
Work is expected to start on Monday and continue until approximately Saturday, March 30.
