DORSET, Vt. -
Police in Pennsylvania were looking for a man in VT they believe stole money from a youth soccer team.
Police say a former treasurer for the soccer team, Daniel G. Deets, 38, of Dorset, Vt., is accused of stealing more than $20,000 from the team. He then used the money for personal purchases.
Deets was arrested and was charged with theft by unlawful taking in Pennsylvania. Deets had an active bench warrant out of Pike County Pennsylvania for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing for that charge.
Pennsylvania police believed Deets was living in East Dorset, Vt. and contacted Vermont State Police on Thursday. Police say they arrested Deets at his residence in East Dorset, Vt. without incident. He was then charged as a fugitive from justice.
Deets was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility due to lack of $50,000 dollars bail. Deets was scheduled to appear in Bennington County District Court on Friday.
