Thawing Ice Is Moving Rocks - Falling On To I-89 - Plan in Place

BOLTON, Vt. -

Rocks have been falling into the southbound lane on I-89, near Bolton.

You may have noticed a message board, warning you to keep your eyes peeled, as rocks may be in the road.

The Agency of Transportation says as things start to thaw, things tend to move.

There haven't been any accidents yet, and there's a plan in place to keep it that way.

"We are going to have a contractor in to do some scaling, if you will, basically climbing the face of the ledge and bringing down any of the loose rocks that potentially might come down," Dave Blackmore said of the Agency of Transportation.

Most of the rocks that have recently fallen have been about a foot and a half.

If you see a rock in the road, call VTrans or 911.
