Colchester Police Chief Retiring After Being With the Department For 43 Years

COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Colchester Police Chief Charles Kirker is retiring.

According to Town Manager Al Voegele, Kirker has been with the department for 43 years.

Colchester is advertising for a new chief. Voegele says there is a selection process and it's anticipated that an appointment will be made by the incoming town manager prior to Kirker leaving the department.

Kirker started working with the department in 1970.

His last day will be May 31, 2013.
