Officials Find Safe That Was Thrown into Brook in Charlotte, VT

CHARLOTTE, Vt. -

The Charlotte Town Highway Department located a medium size metal safe that was thrown into a brook on Dorsett Street in Charlotte, Vt. This happened around 1 p.m. on March 6.

Police say the safe, made by Victor Safe Company in Tonawanda, N.Y., was pried opened, but most of the contents were still inside.

The safe is now located at the Vermont State Police Barracks in Williston, Vt. where the contents of the safe are currently being dried out.

Police say whoever lost the or had it stolen is a photographer based on the content found inside.

CDs were found labeled with the letters "BU" and are believed to mean back up for files of photograph negatives that were found inside the safe.

Anyone with information on who the safe may belong to or if you can correctly identify the safe and the contents is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at (802)-878-7111.
