Police and rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 4 from Fat Hat Factory to Dewey Mills in Hartford, Vt.
Police say a 63-year-old woman from Woodstock, Vt. was heading east on Woodstock Road and crossed the center line, striking and ripping off the rear wheel of a single axle utility trailer driven by Roger Cann, 71, of Macungie, Penn.
The woman then struck another utility driven by Corey Daniels, 38, of Hartford, Vt.
Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene. The 63-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
Police say one of the passengers in Daniel's car, a 17-year-old girl, received non-life threatening injuries. Another passenger who was 16-years-old didn't have any injuries.
Both Daniels and the 63-year-old woman required extrication from their vehicles by the Hartford Fire Department.
The road was closed for several hours.
