SWANTON, Vt. -

A woman was arrested for custodial interference after she picked up her daughter from school instead of going to a custodial hearing regarding her daughter.

Police say Bobbi-Jo Hodgdon, 36, of Swanton, Vt., was aware that she was going to lose custody of her daughter at her hearing at Franklin County Court on Wednesday.

After picking up 9-year-old Alexis (Lexi) Hodgdon from school, Bobbi-Jo Hodgdon drove to Newport, Vt. Police then searched the Newport area for Bobbi-Jo and Lexi Hodgdon.

They found her vehicle at around 9:45 p.m. at a residence on West Main Street near Cross Street in Newport Center, Vt.

Bobbi-Jo was arrested for an unrelated warrant for extortion and for the current charge of custodial interference. Bobbi-Jo was transported to Chittenden County Correctional Center.

Police say Lexi, who was not harmed during the incident, was taken into protective custody on behalf of the Vermont Department of Children Families.

No word on when Bobbi-Jo is due in court to answer to these charges.
