HIGHGATE, Vt. -
Voters in Highgate, Vermont rejected an ordinance which would have regulated backyard firings in the town.
The ordinance would have banned backyard firings in certain residential neighborhoods and areas less than 1,000 feet from the local schools.
"Either way if it goes down there is no compromise for safety," Vern Broksy, Resident of Highgate, Vt., said. Brosky plans to continue working on passing an ordinance on the issue of backyard firing ranges.
The ordinance failed by a vote of 38 to 65.
