ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -

Police in Essex, Vermont want to know why someone used a hammer to knock out its cruiser windows.

The damaged cars were brought to the town's garage for repair.

Police say they found Kristopher Puls, 19 of Essex, Vt. in the station's parking lot with a hammer in his hand.

After being arrested police say he wouldn't say what led him to cause $2,500 dollars in damages.

"He declined to talk to me about the incident so I don't why he did it and I had never met him before and his name was not familiar to me at all," said Lt. Ken Beaulieu.

In addition to the car damage, police say Puls spit at an officer.

He was brought to the Chittenden Correctional facility and is expected to be charged Wednesday with unlawful mischief and assault on a law enforcement officer by bodily fluids.
