Head of Group Pushing GMO Labeling Believes Bill Could Pass VT Legislature This Year

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

The head of a group that supports labeling genetically modified food says she thinks the chances for passage this year in Vermont are good.

The House Agriculture Committee approved a GMO labeling bill both last spring and again on Friday.

It calls for foods made with genetically engineered ingredients to have special labels.

Andrea Stander, of the Rural Vermont Farm Advocacy Group, believes the measure has a good chance of making it the rest of the way through the process.
