SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. -
A New York man is arrested after shooting his wife in the hand with his 3 children present early Tuesday morning.
Police say Oleg Tchernytchenko, 35, of Saranac Lake, N.Y., was arguing with his wife and then pointed a loaded shotgun at her. As she tried to push the weapon away she was shot in the hand.
The incident took place around 4 a.m. in the living room with Tchernytchenko's three children ages from 5 months to 4 years of age. Police say two were on the couch near the victim.
The victim was transported to Adirondack Medical Center ER and was later transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care. Police say the children were taken into protective custody by Franklin County Child Protective Services.
Tchernytchenko was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
Police say they're still investigating the shooting.
