Selectboard Member Involved in Head On Crash in Sheldon, VT Passed Away Friday

SHELDON, Vt. -

One of the men involved in the head on collision on Route 105 in Sheldon, Vt. last Wednesday has passed away.

Police say 66-year-old Enosburg Selectboard Member Llyod Touchette was removed from life support and passed away from injuries on Friday.

FOX44 and ABC22 reported that Touchette was driving a Ford Escort when he lost control and slide sideways into oncoming traffic. Touchette then collided with a Toyota Camry driven by 60-year-old Francis McCarthy, of Fairfax, Vt.

Touchette was transported to Fletcher Allen with head injuries.

McCarthy received minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Northwest Medical.

This crash is still being investigated. Slick road conditions appear to be contributing factors. Police do not believe alcohol and drugs to be a factor in the crash.
