Police Investigating Interrupted Burglary on Lafountain Street in Burlington, VT

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Burlington Police say they're investigating a report that a man returned home to find a burglar inside his apartment.

Police say the man, who they are not naming, lives on Lafountain Street.  They say he went on a quick walk and when he got back he claims there was another man inside his unlocked home.

"During a brief struggle, there was he encountered the suspect potentially had a knife and after the scuffle, brief scuffle, the suspect fled from the home," says Deputy Chief Andi Higbee, Burlington Police Department.

Police have released a description of the burglar based on the homeowner's report.

They say the suspect was a white man, about 25 years-old, 5-feet, 10-inches and 200 pounds.

The homeowner reports the burglar was scruffy and wearing dark pants and hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
