On Monday I had the honor of giving local Colchester Middle School students a tour of our Fox44/Abc22 building. We went everywhere. We stopped by:
On the left you'll find a picture of all of us at the main anchor desk, practicing our best face for the HD evening or morning news. I had to put makeup on that day, as always, and explained to the students that high definition will bring out any flaw in my face!
Of course I saved the best for last, or what always seems to be the kids' favorite activity which is playing in front of the green screen (aka weather wall). It's where I stand every morning, delivering the latest weather conditions and forecast. Just to let you know I can see myself in the camera and on both sides of me. And yes, if I point left it really is pointing right on TV, backwards indeed.
I was happy to find out that the Colchester Middle School students have their own broadcast! Once a week, on Mondays, they show their edition of a "schoolcast", have a makeshift green screen, and even a recently purchased teleprompter! Nice going guys!
If you'd like to come down to take a tour of the studio and do the same, please feel free! Contact us either at weather@fox44now.com or call 802-660-9333 and ask for either Lesley or Tracy and they can set up a time to have a group come in. We've had scouts, schools, and other groups come in many times before. It's always a pleasure showing off where we work and the job I get to do (which I always dreamed of doing).
