WATERBURY, Vt. -

U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Gov. Peter Shumlin announces agreement and funding for redevelopment of the Waterbury state office complex building.

A press release says the $950,000 award from the Agency of Commerce and Community Development will redevelop Ladd Hall into 27 new homes.

"My administration is as committed as ever to helping communities rebuild," said Gov. Shumlin.  "We will continue to work with Waterbury on the redevelopment of the State Office Complex and are pleased to announce that we have entered into an agreement that makes Ladd Hall available for this project.  Soon, this historic building on Main Street will come back to life as new affordable housing and help replace homes lost to the flood."

Shumlin also announced five other grants to communities through the state Vermont Community Development Board totaling $1,077,473. The grants include a community building project in Rutland, Vt., agri-business planning grant for a greenhouse in Coventry, Vt., dental center in Bristol, Vt., and renovated and new affordable homes in Hardwick and Charlotte, Vt.
