WASHINGTON -

Vermont receives $371,000 in a multi-state settlement with Lender Processing Services, Inc.

A press release says Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell and 45 other state attorney generals have reached a $120 million multi-state settlement. The complaint, filed last week, accuses the company of robo-signing documents and engaging in other improper conduct related to mortgage loan default servicing.

"This case follows Vermont's role in the national foreclosure settlement reached in February 2012, to ensure that mortgage foreclosure and loan documents are properly carried out," said Attorney General Sorrell.

As part of its settlement, Lender Processing Services, Inc. will review documents from January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2010, and correct any errors they find.

Consumers may also call the following toll-free Lender Processing Service numbers:

• Questions regarding Document Execution: (866) 854-8935
• Questions regarding LPS Field Services (these were activities LPS performed for mortgage servicers, such as: property inspection, preservation, maintenance, and winterization): (800) 767-8674.
