2.14.13 Spring Flood Outlook (part 3!)

Posted: Updated:

As promised (in yesterday's blog), the spring flood outlook!

Every other Thursday, our local National Weather Service crew evaluates our flood risk based on numerous factors, including current snowpack, and the precip/temp forecast.

Here's the latest report, as of Thursday, February 7 (the next will be issued next Thursday, Feb 21).

In short, the flood risk is low at this time. Several thawing episodes over the past few weeks have allowed for minimal river ice, an average to below average snowpack, and generally drier than normal soil moisture across our region. It would take a really heavy bout of rainfall plus warm temperatures to result in any significant river flooding at this point, which there is currently no foreseeable threat of at this time.
