Burlington Man Charged with Road Rage Involving Gun

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A Burlington man is facing charges after police say he pointed a 45-caliber handgun at another driver who just happened to be a city councilor.

Police say 34-year-old Matija Gubic has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Now police say Gubic claims another car had been tailgating him on the Beltline.  And the driver in the second car just happened to be Burlington City Councilor Vince Brennan.

On North Avenue, the two cars ended up side-by-side.  We talked to Brennan about what he says happened next.

"That's when the window came down and he brandished the gun out the window and started yelling at me and definitely very scary," says Brennan.

Brennan says he might have been following too close but he didn't see any reason for a gun to be pulled.

Police say Gubic claims it was actually a flashlight he was holding.

He has pleaded not guilty.
