WEST CHAZY, N.Y. -

New York State Police arrested a man who was found possessing materials used for making meth in his car.

Police say back on January 25, they stopped a 1999 Saturn on Route 22 in West Chazy, N.Y. for a traffic violation. Inside 33-year-old William Lafountain's car they found pseudoephedrine and two chemical reagents (lye and cold packs containing ammonium nitrate). Police also found a digital scale and glass pipe with marijuana residue.

Lafountain was charged with criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, 2nd degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Lafountain was due in court on January 29.

Police say meth labs are on the rise in the area and the most common meth labs being discovered by law enforcement are the "One-Pot" or "Shake N Bake" methods.

The New York State Police are asking that anyone that may have information on people manufacturing, using or selling methamphetamine to contact them at 518-897-2000.
