BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The 7th annual Go Red For Woman Luncheon is being held Thursday.

According to a press release, 350 attendees will gather to learn ways to fight heart disease and stroke.

"Go Red is about savings lives, one heart at a time," said Jill Berry Bowen, CEO of Northwestern Medical Center and 2013 chair of the Go Red Luncheon. "For me personally, it is also about bending the health care cost curve.  Through education, lifestyle changes and medical advances, we can make a positive change in how health care is delivered in Vermont and around the country."

The luncheon will talk about the health effects of consuming large quantities of sugar sweetened beverages (SSBs) and the risk of becoming overweight, developing high blood pressure and coronary heart disease. Speakers will also highlight the current sugar tax bill being debated in Montpelier, Vt.

The luncheon was held at the Sheraton on Williston Road in Burlington, Vt.

FOX44 and ABC22's Lauren Maloney is co-emceeing the luncheon with Tara Madison of Star 92.9.
