MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -
The popular Vermont based Hard Cider Company is launching something new, something pink. It raises awareness for a non-profit aimed at helping cancer survivors. You probably recognize this logo, the Vermont based Woodchuck Hard Cider, but soon you'll be seeing a new bottle on the market.
"It was packaged, palletized and its shipping all over the country right now," said Nate Formalarie, with the Vermont Cider Company, LLC.
It's called Woodchuck Pink and it's got a unique look and new taste.
"A crisp apple taste but it's still delicate in body," said Formalarie.
And take a close look on the label, it reads ‘In support of Dragon Heart's Cancer Survivorship Now.'
"Get that friendship of people who've been through what you've been through to live in your new normal," said Susie McNamara, Office Manager, for Survivorship Now.
The Dragon Heart Organization, which hosts the annual Dragon Boat Festival in Vermont created a new program aimed at helping cancer survivors and those going through treatment.
"You're getting out of your comfort zone maybe, you're in a comforting space with people here who are supporting you," said McNamara.
It's call Survivorship Now and to help the new non-profit get on its feet, Woodchuck Hard Cider is donating 50 thousand dollars to help with its workshops.
"When we heard that this donation would be keeping those classes free for survivors; that was huge for us," said Formalarie.
"It's just so great, it's this next step of someone wanting to do something tremendous that you would never expect to happen; and 50 thousand dollars can go a long way for us," said McNamara.
