SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -
On the White House website search a school, any school, and you can see the details that might not come up on a campus tour.
The College Scorecard shows you costs, graduation rate, borrowing and default rates and job opportunities. It's all the important financial information you or your child needs to make a decision on where to attend.
"Scholarships and financial aide definitely comes into play," Vermont Commons School Director of College Counseling Sarah Soule said.
She says the issue of financial aid goes hand in hand with any conversation about college.
"The cost has risen at such a high rate that it has to be looked at so I think it's beneficial to have a tool like that," Soule said.
Which is What Vermont Commons senior Justin Decatur is looking closely at too.
"My top choice right now is Claremont McKenna and they've been doing awesome things with financial aide and they brag about meeting all requirements for financial aide so that definitely plays a big factor," Decatur said.
Decatur has applied to several schools around the country and has been offered more than $28,000 a year in merit based aide at one school.
Now he can compare school's that have accepted his application and see which deal's the sweetest, which is the point of the program.
"I think it is something for family's to take into consideration," Soule said.
Take a look at the College Scorecard for yourself and see if it helps you.
