BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Police are searching for a man who fired a gun into a Burlington cemetery Tuesday night.

According to a press release, at around 11:30 police responded to the area of North St. and Elmwood Ave. for a report of a man on foot who shot a handgun into the Elmwood Avenue cemetery.

The man is described as being a white male, middle aged, 5'8", weighing 180 to 190 pounds. He was wearing a large navy blue puffy coat that came down to his thighs, jeans, and a winter hat. The man was last seen leaving the area of Elmwood Avenue on foot heading west on North St.

Police say they were unable to determine what the man was shooting at, if anything. During their investigation, police say, there was no indication that the man was targeting a specific person or building.
