LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -
The Moreland Commission on Utility Storm Preparedness and Response is holding a public meeting on February 20 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
According to a press release, the meeting will focus on emergency preparedness and response to recent storms and recommendations for restructuring oversight of energy utilities in New York to improve the reliable and affordable transmission of power.
The general public is invited to attend and will be able to make comments addressing these issues. Residents unable to present testimony in person may also submit testimony at comments@moreland.ny.gov.
The meeting will be held at the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) located at 2634 Main Street in the Edelweiss Room on the second floor. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.
The press release says on November 13, 2012, Governor Cuomo established a commission under the Moreland Act (Section 6 of the New York State Executive Law) ("Moreland Commission") to investigate the response, preparation, and management of New York's power utility companies during storms. Executive Orders 73 and 76 which created the Commission can be found here.
