New Study Highlight's New Hampshire's Problem of Deteriorating Roads & Bridges

CONCORD, N.H. -

A new study highlights New Hampshire's long-time problem of deteriorating roads and bridges.

The report shows 37% of state maintained roads are in poor condition and nearly one-third of the state's bridges need help.

These reports mirror the state's Department of Transportation stats which have been released a week before the legislature battles raising the state's gas tax by 12 cents over the next 3 years.

Currently the tax is 18 cents a gallon. It's been that way for 22 years.

Transportation officials say the state faces a $74 million shortfall to maintain roads and bridges in their current condition.
