WINOOSKI, Vt. -
A Vermont woman is learning the good and the bad that comes with appearing on a national TV show.
Gretel-Ann Fischer was a finalist on TLC's the "Next Great Baker." It was her tough attitude on the show that has people talking now.
Fischer says despite the story being twisted she's happy she signed up for the show, especially because of the benefit to her bakery Cupp's Cafe in Winooski.
"We've had a line literally out the door all day long," says Fischer, a day after the show's finale.
On Monday, we were at a watch party as Fischer, her friends and family saw her come in second place in the show's season finale. That meant she missed out on a $100,000 prize and the chance to work in a big New York bakery.
"It's awesome to see how Vermont has my back," says Fischer.
But not everyone does. Some people say they couldn't believe how tough Fischer was on the show, even appearing to cheat.
Fischer says they shouldn't believe it.
"I signed my life away basically. I signed away that they could create a story however they wanted to create it. And that's exactly what they did," says Fischer.
Fischer says for now contractually she's not allowed to fight back against what she says was bad editing and lies.
"In my heart, I know what I did and I'm okay with what I did and how I played the game," says Fischer.
As for her business, Fischer says she has big plans.
"I get to blow the roof off this place which I plan to do. So I'm excited about the future," says Fischer.
As for the future, Fischer does have plans for a vacation soon. But she says she wants to keep the momentum going by keeping the business fresh and adding new menu items.
