BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Police are looking for the person who they say intentionally set a Burlington, Vt. apartment on fire early Tuesday morning.

According to a press release, around 5 a.m., a fire was reported at 96 Ethan Allen Parkway in Apartment 4. The apartment is unoccupied. Fire crews were able to enter the apartment and extinguish the fire before it spread to other apartments.

The building housed a total of four apartments, three of which are occupied. Police say the other families were evacuated, but were allowed back a short time later.

Because neighbors reported the incident in a timely fashion, police say they were able to extinguish the fire quickly and limit the amount of damage. Damages are estimated to be around $1,000.

Officials determined that the fire was intentionally set and is considered suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Arson Tip Line at 1-800-32-ARSON  (There is up to a $5,000.00 reward for information leading to an arrest).  Anyone not wishing to call the tip line but has information about the fire can also contact Detective Sergeant Jeremy Hill at the St. Albans Barracks (802-524-5993) or Battalion Chief Barry Simays at the Burlington Fire Marshal's Office (802-864-5577).
