Hunger Awareness Day at Vermont State House Tuesday

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Tuesday is Hunger Awareness Day at the Vermont State House.

According to a press release, more than 8,200 people will walk through the doors at food shelves and meal sites around Vermont.

"The theme of this year's awareness day is Hunger Exists Here," said John Sayles, Vermont Foodbank CEO. "There isn't a community in Vermont that has escaped the pain of hunger. With 1 in 7 of our neighbors struggling to put food on the table, someone you know is hungry."

The Foodbank is striving, with the help of its staff, volunteers, Board of Trustees, and community partners to make 100 meetings with legislators on the issue of hunger.
