Police: Homeless Man Found Dead After His Makeshift Hut Caught Fire Tuesday

ST. ALBANS, Vt. -

St. Albans Police are investigating the death of a homeless man in a wooded area near the Domino's Pizza on North Main Street Tuesday.

Police say 54-year-old Richard Poquette was found deceased outside of his makeshift hut. The hut was destroyed by fire and was still smoldering when police arrived.

Police say he Poquette suffered severe burns to various parts of his body.

Investigators are waiting for autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death, but it at appears his death was accidental.

Police say the fire may have started with a burning candle.
