TINMOUTH, Vt. -

Vermont State Police arrested a man Monday accused of distributing and trafficking heroin.

According to Police, the Vermont Drug Task Force began investigating after 40-year-old Alan Willis made a controlled purchase from them.

Their investigation found Willis selling heroin in both individual bags and in multiple bundles (10 bags). He sold the heroin for $20 per bag and $180 per bundle.

A search warrant was issued after investigators learned that Willis' out-of-state supplier planned to bring a large amount of heroin to Rutland county to sell. In the home they found a safe filled with approximately 1,500 bags of heroin, weighing about 47.8 grams. Police say the street value of the heroin is approximately $30,000.

Police say under state law, the highest threshold for heroin trafficking is 3.5 grams or more.

Willis was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for a lack of $200,000 bail.
