South Burlington Fires City Manager

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The South Burlington City Council has fired its city manager.

On Monday,  the council met in a closed, executive session to talk about City Manager Sandy Miller.  The council chair says Miller had been put on administrative leave last Monday.

After the session, the councilors voted unanimously to end Miller's contract.

"Because this is a personnel matter, however we'll not be able to answer many of your questions because of privacy issues," says Rosanne Greco, South Burlington Council chair.

Greco would not give a reason for the firing but says a statement will be released Tuesday that should provide more information.

The chair says Miller will continue to receive his $117,000 salary for the next year, as well as benefits.

The council plans to meet later this week to plan the future leadership of the city.
