RUTLAND, Vt. -
Christopher Orkins, 34 of Rutland, Vt., had a hard time standing still in a Rutland courtroom Monday, actions that bothered the judge as he answered a charge that could put him away for 15 years.
"I am concerned, my observations of Mr. Orkins demeanor is in court is that he is thin and emaciated and frankly under these lights is looking somewhat green," said a Vermont superior court judge.
Police say he was one of at least five people involved in a violent home break-in, in a Rutland house over the weekend.
They say around 4:30 Saturday afternoon the group broke down the back door, used pepper spray and when the victims fought back, hit them in the head with a gun.
We spoke with the people inside the home, who didn't want to go on camera, however we walked around back and they showed us the door that police say broke into, the bottom of it was missing and there were pieces of wood all on the ground.
Police say the victims recognized Orkins and one other, Calvin Alexander, also known as "drama" but didn't know who the other three were.
"We believe the second identified suspect has fled the states to one of our neighboring states," said Rutland Police Sgt. John Sly.
Police aren't just working on catching Alexander; they're also trying to figure out why they broke in and demanded money and drugs.
"Sid the suspects take anything? We know that they made those demands, but did they take anything?" asked FOX44/ABC22.
"That is still under investigation. We haven't confirmed nor refuted anything at this point," said Sly.
Orkins is due back in court next month.
He's being held tonight on $15-thousand dollars bail.
Police say they have a history with both him and Alexander involving drugs.
