ST. ALBANS, Vt. -
A driver crashed his car into an apartment building in St. Albans, Vt. early Saturday morning.
Police say at approximately 2:00 a.m., Christopher Stanhope, 23, of Richford, Vt., passed out with his Chevy Impala in gear and backed into an apartment building located at 80 Bringham Road. The apartment building housed 3 separate apartments.
No one was injured from the accident. However, police say one resident did go to Northwestern Medical Center later in the day after her power and water had been shut off for an extended period, which made an existing respiratory condition worse.
Damage is estimated to be more than $20,000.
Stanhope was taken into custody and was charged with DUI, violation of conditions of release, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating with a suspended license.
He was processed at the St. Albans Police Department and subsequently lodged at Northwest State Correctional Center. Bail was set at $800.
