Four Arrested For Stealing and Selling Gold Coins to Chittenden County Businesses

ALBURG, Vt. -

Police arrested 4 people for stealing gold coins and then selling them to local businesses and jewelry stores around Chittenden County for cash.

Police say Jennifer Jarvis, 32, Ricky Benjamin, 35, Mark Mumley, 52, Shawn Farrell, 41, are accused of stealing items from a vacant house in Alburg, Vt. The home was vacant after the death of the male owner.

The suspects are accused of stealing a vehicle, miscellaneous antique items, large quantities of gold coins and various metal items from the estate.

When Farrell was arrested police found $5,000 worth of coins in his possession.

The value of each coin ranges from $350 to $1,800 per coin. Police say approximately $207,000 in gold coins were stolen from the property.

The coins are currently being melted down.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and expect more arrests. Anyone with information regarding Radkin, the Radkin Estate, or other information relevant to this case are encouraged to call the State Police at 802-878-7111.
