Friday Marks American Heart Association's 10th Annual Wear Red Day

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Friday marks the American Heart Association's 10th Annual Wear Red Day.

According to a press release, the campaign helps raise awareness and funds to fight the number one killer of women, cardiovascular disease.

 "Now is the time to act. Heart disease is still the number one killer of women, and ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease," said Anne Buckley Survivor Speaker for the Plattsburgh Go Red For Women Dinner, which is also being held on February 1st at the Westside Ballroom. "With the right information, education and care, heart disease in women can be treated, prevented, and even ended. "

FOX44 and ABC22's Lauren Maloney will be co-emceeing the event again this year.
