JAY, N.Y. -
We have continuing coverage on a clean-up project in Jay, New York that leaders say wrapped up at just the right time.
Last month the town began a $500,000 dollar state grant project to pick-up debris left behind from Tropical Storm Irene.
That finished last week.
A Town leader says Thursday's ice jam is a perfect example as to why they needed that money.
"A little frustrated with FEMA that they didn't see how important this is because as we go along here they can see how often we have these flooding possibilities in the Town of Jay and to remove those items that could cause damage was very important to us," said Town of Jay Supervisor Randall Douglas.
Work still needs to be done.
Town leaders say they're working on securing money to help secure banks and other projects to prevent future issues.
