WEST DANVILLE, Vt. -
Yesterday we went to Littleton, New Hampshire where, Doctor Catherine Houghton was killed in a hotel lobby.
Police say the man who stabbed and killed her, was a complete stranger.
The accused killer, Rodney Hill, is from West Danville, Vermont.
Today, I got reaction from the community, and even spoke exclusively with one of Hill's relatives.
"The whole family is kinda torn apart," Rodney Hill's nephew said.
Rodney Hill owns a home on Howard Road with his wife. When I stopped by Wednesday afternoon, no one came to the door, but his nephew talked to me when he came outside to post a no trespassing sign.
"He was the best uncle you could ask for and he was just having some troubles and it wasn't him who did it, I don't think," the nephew said.
Hill is accused of stabbing and killing 70 year old Catherine Houghton, at random.
The two were guests at the Hampton Inn in Littleton, but as far as we know, had no other connection.
"He just in his head just wasn't all there I don't think, I don't know, we're kind of loss for words right now," Hill's nephew said.
We still don't know what Rodney Hill's ties are to New Hampshire or even why he was at the hotel that night, but in his driveway, there is a truck with New Hampshire plates.
"It's about 2,000 feet," Bryant Watson started to tell me. He was in shock when he heard the news, especially because for years, he has shared a backyard with the accused killer.
"It does make you feel uneasy," Watson said.
But the Hastings store owner, who knew Hill and saw him eating breakfast the very morning the crime was committed, had a different reaction.
"I don't think many people were surprised. He had a good side and a bad side to him, I guess," Garey Larrabee said.
But in quaint town, where there's very little crime, its left a community searching for answers.
Rodney Hill is facing second degree murder charges.
Tonight he's being held without bail.
