PORTLAND, Maine -

The United States Postal Service is looking for city carriers assistants in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

According to a press release, over the next 4 weeks, about 200 new positions will be opening up.

The positions are non-career positions, but they do perform the same duties as regular mail carriers with a few difference.

The Postal Service says the position pays $15 an hour salary, paid vacation days and eligibility for health care benefits as required by law, or after the first 360-day term.

Applicants must be 18 years or older, have a valid state driver's license, a safe driving record and at least two years of documented driving experience. The Postal Service says applicants have to pass an exam and take a drug test.

To apply, a candidate must complete an online application and profile using eCareer at www.usps.com/employment. Applications are being accepted Wednesday, January 30 to Sunday, February 3. The Post Office says additional postings of the positions will be announced in February.
