Flynn Center Holds First Live-Tweeted Concert

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The Flynn Center had its very first "live-tweeted concert" Saturday night.

The Flynn invited 15 to 20 Burlington, Vt. tweeters to attend the concert featuring David Hidalgo and Marc Ribot.

Tweeters were put in the balcony, which was closed for the event.

The tweeters gave updates on the performance and even posted some audio from the concert to the hashtag, a symbol (#) that marks keywords and topics, called #flynntweets.

The Flynn Center hopes the tweets kept people in touch with what was going on there.

"The idea behind it was that it would engage the people that were doing it because they'd be able to talk about the show as it was happening," Leigh Chandler, Flynn Marketing and Communication Director, said. "It would also engage people that were not able to come to the Flynn to see the show on what was happening here and hopefully bring it out to a wider audience."

Chandler said some people did push back on the idea of live-tweeting the event. There will likely be another Flynn Tweets concert in the future.
