COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Vermont's largest power company wants customers to be aware of a phone scam that's been reported.

The caller claims to be representing Green Mountain Power and demands that the customer pay a bill by giving up their credit card information.

The caller also threatens that if the person fails to give out the information their power will be shut off.

GMP officials say they never ask anyone for credit card information.

If you receive a call like this, you should immediately contact police.
