NY Man Sentenced For Assaulting 3 Parole Officers

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

A northern New York man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for using a farm tractor to ram a car with three parole officers inside.

The Press-Republican of Plattsburgh reports that 45-year-old Kip Banker was recently sentenced after pleading guilty in Clinton County Court to  attempted assault of a police officer and criminal mischief.

Authorities say three parole officers were visiting at Banker's home in AuSable in April 2012 when Banker fled on a tractor.

When the parole officers tried to stop him, Banker forced their vehicle off the road.  Two of the officers got out of the car and Banker used the tractor to pin one of them against a tree.

The officers fired their guns but no shots hit Banker, who was arrested a short time later.
