Costco Gets Vermont Act 250 Land-Use Permit for Gas Station in Colchester, Vt.

COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Efforts by Costco to sell gasoline at its Colchester, Vt. center gets a boost.

The Vermont District Environmental Commission issued an Act 250 land-use permit for the plan.

The permit says the three-island, 12 pump gas station could be built if Costco helps pay for traffic improvements at the nearby intersection.

Some customers think building a gas station there could drive down prices in the area.

"It's a possibility it will drive most of them down. I don't think it will take all the business away from everybody else but it will keep everybody honest," Jeff Levebdre said.

"I don't know if more will come but I think the one's that are here will buy gas here," Eloise Crane said.

There is a 30 day appeal period for anyone who disagrees with the Act 250 findings.
