Vermont State Police Investigating Phone Scam in Waterbury, Vt.

Vermont State Police are investigating a phone scam in Waterbury, Vt.

Police say someone in Waterbury, Vt. received a call Thursday from a male subject who spoke broken English stating that he had won a new car, $2,000,000 dollars, $150 cash and a prize worth around $2,000. The caller stated they would drop the car off at his residence Thursday.

Police say the person was then asked to provide banking information and $850 worth of Green Dot Money Pack Walmart cards as part of a processing fee.

Vermont State Police are urging anyone who receives these types of calls to not give out any personal information that includes name, date of birth, or accounts numbers. Anyone who receives this type of call or a similar call should contact the police.
