SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. -
Even though the sun was shining down as you entered Saranac Lake, New York Wednesday it provided little relief to what the weather felt like.
"It's very cold, you know that! It's below 0," said one person.
That was evident on local thermostats.
After a few minutes outside, ours dipped below zero.
Conditions that made it too cold for people to be on the ice, or window shop downtown.
As for the people that did venture out, they hurried getting around, including Pat Hendrickson who thought a trip from Maryland seemed like a nice idea until she stepped outside.
"Cold, bitter cold. I didn't know that the thermostat went down that far," said Hendrickson.
But not everyone disliked the frigid air.
"A wonderful Adirondack day! As I always say, anything above 0 is considered a heat wave," said Fred Lichtenwalter
At the Saranac Lake recreation park the cold allowed them to make snow that melted away last week.
Whether you enjoy these temperatures or not, you have to be smart when heading out.
"Bought new boots, bought new hat and got the heaviest coat on," said Hendrickson.
"Sweater, heavy coat, gloves obviously and hat, you got to," said Lichtenwalter.
Saranac Lake will stay pretty cold this week.
It's expected to remain below zero until Friday afternoon.
That's 65 straight hours below zero.
