WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -

On Tuesday, Wesley Vorhes, 47 stood in court, and was charged with the felony of aggravated assault.

Police say Vorhes' girlfriend's brother and a friend invited him out for a drink at a Lebanon, New Hampshire bar.

At The Cave, police say Vorhes flirted with a woman, which upset his girlfriend's brother.

After leaving the bar, they say the two got into a fight on Interstate 89.

Along the highway, police say the driver pulled over, Vorhes got out and punched the victim several times in the face.

Court documents show, Vorhes claimed he was the victim, but prosecutors disagreed and only charged Vorhes.

In court, the judge told him to keep his distance.

"You must not have any contact, at all, of any type, direct or indirect," said Judge Robert Gerety.

Outside the courthouse, Vorhes had little to say as to why he might have done this.

"Wesley is there anything you want to say?" said FOX44/ABC22.

"Oh, no," said Vorhes.

As for the victim, police say he will need to have reconstructive surgery and lost some feelings in his face.

Meanwhile, Vorhes was free to go Tuesday, and wasn't held on any type of bail.

"You're all set," said Gerety.

If convicted, Vorhes faces 15 years behind bars.

He's due back in court next month.
