Vermont Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud

Posted: Updated:
ALBURGH, Vt. -

Vermont police say a 32-year-old woman will appear in court next month on one felony count of welfare fraud.

State police said Sunday that Jennifer Jarvis, of Alburgh, was charged this month for allegedly fraudulently receiving benefits she wasn't entitled to from the state's food stamp program.

Officials say Jarvis was making an income while she was receiving benefits, but failed to report her income to the state Economic Services Division.

Police say she has received about $3,500 in benefits since October.
