Three People Injured in NH Avalanche Late Thursday Evening

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. -

The New Hampshire Forest Service says 3 people have been hurt in an avalanche on Mount Washington.

Rescue crews say the victims' injuries are not life-threatening.

One of the injured is a retired marine who lost his leg and suffered a severe brain injury in 2006 in Iraq.

The avalanche happened in Tuckerman Ravine late Thursday evening.

The Mount Washington Avalanche Center issued an avalanche warning earlier in the day because of the snow and gusty winds.

Tuckerman Ravine was the site of a fatal accident in April when a Boston man lost his footing and fell into a crevasse while hiking.
