Vt. Former Armstrong Teammate Reacts to Interview

Posted: Updated:
WILLISTON, Vt. -

In Lance Armstrong's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Armstrong admits he used performance enhancing drugs after a decade of lies.

"As I try to take myself out of the situation, you overcome the disease, you win the Tour de France seven times, you have a happy marriage, you have children. It's just this mythic, perfect story and it wasn't true," says Armstrong.

Armstrong was also asked by the International Olympic Committee to return the bronze medal he won in the 2000 Sydney Games.

One person not watching the interview was a Williston man and a former teammate of Armstrong, Andy Bishop.

"Everybody knew what he did. There's irrefutable proof," says Bishop.

Bishop should know.  He was a professional cyclist for 13 years and rode for several with Armstrong.

"I don't believe he is feeling remorse for what he did or wanting to apologize deep down that I made the biggest mistake of my life. I think his doing it was a calculated lie in itself," says Bishop.

Bishop says Armstrong's Cinderella story, which brought so much positive attention to the sport, could now hurt it.

That's because Bishop says the story was all a lie.

"Ultimately if the sport has any chance of moving forward, all the truth has to come out," says Bishop.

Bishop says he hopes Armstrong does come clean about bribing top cycling leaders.

The second part of the Armstrong interview airs Friday on the OWN network.
