BENNINGTON, Vt. -
It's being called one of the largest drug busts in Vermont history.
State police arrested 47 people for selling illegal drugs in the Bennington area.
Multiple agencies teamed up to combat the growing problem... specifically prescription pills, heroin and crack-cocaine.
According to State Senator Richard Sears, who represents Bennington, says we're finally seeing results from the Gang Task Force Bill.
"One is to have an aggressive enforcement of our drug laws, the second is to have the treatment provided to folks so the demand goes down and the third is to send a message to gangs," Sen. Sears said.
It took 100 officers to make the 47 arrests today.
If convicted, each person faces between five and 20 years in prison.
